JOB SUMMARY: 

The Business Manager will provide business, administrative and operational support to the president in the overall operations and management of the company. We are looking for someone with a passion for providing administration-related support and organization where needed to assist a growing company. Above all else, upholding and abiding by our guiding principles, providing administrative related support for all staff, ensuring a top-notch experience for our employees, and presenting accurate and thorough data/trackers will ensure success. The person entering this position will immediately step into a management position and work with ownership to shape our service offerings.

JOB DUTIES: 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Manage and/or perform administration, marketing, customer service and operations.
  • Develop pre-sell strategy and facilitate touch points between technical staff and potential clients
  • Serve as Capture Manager during the proposal and interview process; act as the primary liaison between marketing and technical staff, as well as ensuring language is tailored to particular projects/clients.
  • Prepare proposals, respond to RFPs and SOQs, and negotiate contracts and schedules
  • Participate and develop strategies and recommendations for enhancing client relationships, and develop new leads and strategic partnerships for current and emerging markets.
  • Coordination of daily processes and procedures
  • Developing company policies, strategies and procedures
  • Performing and/or supervising production, administration, sales and payroll.
  • Preparing reports, including those related to budgets, profits and predictions.
  • Acting as company representative at a range of official and promotional events. 

 EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or equivalent experience  
  • 5+ years of experience in roles relevant to the responsibilities described above. 
  • A financial aptitude is a requirement along with strong business planning and project management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong working knowledge of the principles of strategic planning, marketing, relationship-based sales, and business development and marketing in the public sector for environmental and management projects is required.
  • Research, evaluate, estimate, and accurately interpret and apply technical data and policy information to solve management problems and/or make recommendations to the company president. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other internal staff, and clients. Understand and meet customer needs within policy and build stronger customer relationships.

Necessary Special Requirements:  

  • Demonstrated experience using MS Applications.
  • Must possess a valid Washington state Driver’s license, or provide evidence of the ability to report to work sites not accessible by public transportation. 
  • Must be resident in Washington State and be able to work both in office and virtual settings.

WORK SCHEDULE    : During the school year, hours may vary between 15-20 hours per week depending on student schedule and availability. This job is not eligible for benefits.

JOB SUMMARY: 

As part of the full-time university student’s ongoing course of study, this position offers practical work experience through the provision of technical support to Engineers and Scientists in the following work areas:  Environmental Engineering and Science, Solid Waste Management, Construction Principles and Management, Project Management and Technical Report Preparation. Specific Duties will depend on your assignment and may include work in the field, office, or a combination of both in the following:

  • Provide daily administrative support on ongoing projects.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to Project Managers.
  • Research and compile information required for the different discipline reports in Solid Waste Management and Management Engineering Services.
  • Attending internal and external meetings, taking notes and writing meeting minutes.
  • Collecting, organizing and responding to comments from meetings or reports.
  • Provide overall project control support to Project Managers.
  • Reviewing, updating, tracking project files and cost information.

Who May Apply: This position is open to graduate, undergraduate and community college students available for year-round part time work, who are enrolled full or part-time during the regular school year in an accredited college or university and wish to gain practical work experience related to their field of study.  The hourly rate range is determined based on experience and relevant knowledge and skills obtained through course of study.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS  AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of engineering and/or scientific principles.
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications for Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Knowledge of engineering mathematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate; work effectively and make decisions in a team environment.
  • Ability to have predictable and reliable attendance.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  The most competitive applicants will be working towards degrees in:

  • Environmental engineering, 
  • Environmental sciences, 
  • Physical sciences, 
  • Civil engineering, 
  • or other closely related disciplines.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Enrolled full time in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university 

  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required

  • Demonstrated experience using MS Applications.
  • Must possess a valid Washington state Driver’s license, or provide evidence of the ability to report to work sites not accessible by public transportation.
